With a strong ethos on providing a safe place to belong, a significant part of Christ Church vision is to be at the heart of our local community. Anchored is a new social outreach project set up to reach out into our community and provide intergenerational activities that build resilience, improve wellbeing, reduce loneliness and help our community to integrate. It will include our current well-established outreach programmes, Day Centre and StartaFresh. We will seek to develop new activities for the wider community as we emerge from lockdown.
Our aim at the Day Centre is to enrich our members’ wellbeing by providing them with a place to belong. A place where they feel valued, respected, safe, welcomed, cared for and loved. We know how damaging loneliness can be to a person’s health and this is why we help people feel less isolated. Our Day Centre is for people in our community aged 65 years old and over.
Members enjoy attending the Day Centre every other Wednesday. It is a place where they feel like they are part of the family and they can relax, laugh and enjoy each other’s company. Members enjoy a two course hot lunch and some entertainment.
While we welcome everyone to the Day Centre, we do ask that those joining us are able to care for themselves as we are unable to provide personal care. If you would like to join us please contact us directly and we would be happy to talk to you.
StartaFresh is a support group for people that may have encountered a crisis in their lives. Individuals with mental health challenges, learning disabilities or find themselves socially disadvantaged or excluded.
Anyone over the age of 18 years old that lives in Stamford or local surrounding areas is welcome to join us. We operate an open-door policy to anyone in our community that feels socially disadvantaged or excluded. Our StartaFresh befriending group in Stamford takes place twice a week on Mondays and Fridays; from 1pm-3pm. We issue a programme of events and activities at the beginning of each term so you know what to expect. StartaFresh runs in term times only.
The aims and objectives of StartaFresh are to treat everyone with dignity and respect, to provide a safe place for members to belong and encourage whole person wellbeing. We aim to provide general pastoral and befriending support for adults, helping our members to build self-esteem, learn new skills and move forward in their lives, working towards a more autonomous lifestyle. We work in partnership with other service providers to help us achieve the best outcomes for members.
Working in partnership with Sainsbury's Food Donation programme, we provide hampers to families through our Bluecoat and Stamford Welland Academy. On a regular basis, depending on food collection, we drop off hampers to schools who have identified the families most in need and deliver to their homes. On occasion we have enough food to support local and church families. We are also voucher holders for Stamford Foodbank.
Please do get in touch if you would like to know more about any of these activities.
