Sunday Crunch come for lunch was launched in 2015 and takes place on 3 Sundays a month. Sunday Crunch takes places after the main morning service and our volunteers from the community gather after coffee to set up and serve the hot lunch that we provide.
Many of our guests that attend the Sunday Crunch have stayed on from our 10am Sunday worship service, while others arrive at 11.45am in time for the meal. We don’t mind if you choose to attend the Sunday worship first or just join us for Sunday Crunch; as long as you feel that Christ Church Stamford is a place to belong for you.
We don’t just offer a hot lunch to guests on a Sunday, we also freeze left over meals and send them to people in need or for use at home group lunches. We are able to benefit the wider community with our frozen food when we hear of a family in crisis.
The Community Champion at Morrison’s, Jason Hardstaff, and more recently Tesco Direct have been of tremendous support and blessing to Sunday Crunch as they provide the food we are able to offer guests through Sunday Crunch, as well as other services and events that we run.
We have between 35 and 40 people in attendance to our Sunday Crunch on average and these are people of our community of all ages. Before the meal we have a short interactive reflection on the sermon of the morning and a time of praise and prayer.
Our Sunday Crunch runs on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Sundays of the month from 11.45am; we invite our community to our place to belong so they can enjoy a home cooked lunch and informal bible study with us.
Sunday Crunch runs wholly on donations and fundraising events; we would like to thank everyone who helps out to make Sunday Crunch an integral part of building the community and enabling us to reach out with hospitality and love.
