StartaFresh seeks to meet the needs of adults who are vulnerable or feel disadvantaged in anyway. The objective of the project is to help individuals build self esteem and work towards a more autonomous lifestyle. Currently we have over forty registered members.
The project focuses on befriending and mentoring strategies working with each individual to enable them to move forward in their lives. This involves working closely with a broad range of service providers within the community as well as involving our own volunteer support. This project is managed by our StartaFresh co-ordinator Geraldine Crowley
StartaFresh has a team of volunteer befrienders and mentors to support members and those who just drop in. We provide training, guidance and support for the volunteers. We have achieved Approved Provider Status from the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation.
StartaFresh received an Empowerment achievement award presented by the East Midlands Regional Empowerment partnership in February 2010. These awards are given to projects which make a real difference for local people and improve quality of life.
